Hookipa Beach Park: Maui

The last stop before we left Maui was Hookipa Surf Beach. We watched an amazing sunset over the mountain peaks with the clouds spilling over the valley. The waves here were perfect and there were tons of surfers. We were about to leave and we saw two sea turtles on the sand below us. We ran down the beach to get a close look. The kids were so excited because they had only seen them at a distance in the ocean. They went right up to them and it was an amazing end to our once in a lifetime trip! ~Bethany

Hoar Frost, Guthrie, Clowns and a Boot

Julie and Joe had a whirlwind engagement session with Beau Petersen! As Beau was driving on this winter day to meet this lovely couple for their engagement session, he was on a mission. There was fabulous Hoar Frost in Lake Elmo Minnesota, where they started the session. Julie and Joe didn’t believe it was called “hoar” frost:)But it is and it was beautiful! The Frost blowing off the trees looked like snow falling from the bluest sky. Julie’s make-up was done by Jennifer Elliott with Picture Perfect Make-up. Jen really makes these sessions (and weddings) so special. From the fields with hoar frost they went to Minneapolis, to the Guthrie Theater. I noted that Julie is wearing a fabulous dress from my new favorite online shop ModCloth. I actually just received that same dress in the mail. We obviously both have great taste. As they were leaving Minneapolis, Beau suggested stopping in St Paul. It’s funny how things work out with Beau. They park on a quiet city street. It is so crazy how quiet a city is on a Saturday. The streets were dead… except for three clowns! There were three clowns walking the streets of St Paul. They were a little scary at first but Julie and Joe warmed up to them and they were on the way to the Torch Light Parade. Between the buildings the sunset broke through to reveal an awesome light! It was a serendipitous moment. The last town they went to was Hudson Wisconsin. Julie and Joe walked out on the ice of the Saint Croix River to catch the last of the sunset, even the moon. Beau took them out for a Boot of Beer at our favorite German restaurant The Winzer Stube in Hudson. Beau taught them the rules of the boot and they had a blast in the German ambiance. We love this session!

Twins: Target Field

Last summer we went to one Twins game at the new Target Field. We had the very last row in the Upper Level, it was an amazing scene from there. We loved the overall view of the field and the Minneapolis Skyline. If you haven’t experienced this field yet it is a must see. I am not even a baseball fan but it was super fun anyways, the ambiance was wonderful. I do not even remember if the Twins won or lost but I didn’t care either way. We brought our kids and Beau’s parents too. The kids had fun eating cotton candy for the first time and taking in the view with us. It was a huge bright moon and Bode kept pointing out the moon. The airplanes would consistently fly over the city and Bode liked that too. Bijou had a couple of her friends with and they had a blast together! It was a super fun family night! ~Bethany

Minneapolis and Lakes Engagement Photographs

This beautiful couple who live in Ohio, will be married in Minneapolis this year. It has been an unseasonably warm winter and this day was perfect for photographs around the city. From the Lake areas of Minneapolis to downtown Minneapolis… Beau enjoyed finding all new areas to photograph this engagement session. I love the red coat. It is great to have a pop of color in the outfit. Enjoy!

Austria Alps

Driving through Austria was pristine! The hills were alive with the sound of cowbells. These bovines had a phenomenal view of the Bavarian Alps. We simply picked an off-road and traveled to the top to find this view. There was a curious old Austrian gentlemen sitting on his bench on his porch when we pulled over. He did not speak a lick of english. I greeted him with a smile and told him that his house was beautiful. Every house in this little mountainside neighborhood was spectacular. I loved how each home had a perfectly stacked wood pile. The cowbells were a wonderful background sound. The grass was so green. Flashback to the many times I have watched the Sound of Music. ~Bethany
